How we met

Brighid and Sam first met while working for an engineering research center at Columbia University in the Fall of 2010. Samuel was immediately drawn to Brighid's sunny disposition and happy go lucky attitude (this was a loooong time ago) and wanted to do all he could to spend time with her. As luck would have it, they had lots of things in common, they enjoyed watching sports, going to the gym, and happy hours on "Thirsty Thursdays!" Sadly, this all turned out to be a ruse, as after a couple of years of dating, Brighid admitted to not being into sports as much as it seemed. Seriously though, after being friends for a while, Samuel finally found the courage to ask Brighid out on a date and they have been best friends ever since. Nowadays they try to indulge in their shared love of travel and have gone on many adventures together around the US, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Central America and especially their yearly trip to Hilton Head Island. In fact, they love Hilton Head Island so much that they decided to marry there and finally show their extended family and friends what the hype is all about.

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV)

400 Airways Ave, Savannah, GA 31408, USA
You can fly into Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport for an easy trip to the island! You can call an Uber from the airport or rent a car if you wish. It is about 45 minutes from the airport to the island, but you can break up the trip by stopping through historic Savannah, GA for lunch or a tour!

Hiton Head Airport (HHH)

Another option is to fly directly to Hilton Head island, which is less than a 10 min car ride to The Westin. However flights are limited during the week.

Places to Explore

The Sea Shack

This might be, in our opinion (and most locals), the best seafood spot on the island. You order at the counter (expect a line) and because of COVID, it's mostly take out unless you want to eat in the parking lot. Very much worth it though, try my favorite, the combo (flounder, shrimp, crab cake) blackened and get a little a of everything!

A Lowcountry Backyard

They serve casual Lowcountry-inspired fare in an atmospheric setting with a garden. Try the Meatloaf or the Shrimp BLT Salad!

Guiseppi's Pizza

Delicious, family favorite, casual atmosphere known for delicious pizza, salads, hoagies and wings! This restaurant is centrally located in The Plaza at Shelter Cove Shopping Centre and also does take-out! Try the Italian with a House Salad or Guiseppi's Special Pizza and Hot Wings with blue cheese and celery!

Hudson's Seafood House on the Docks

Dayboat seafood served in a 1912 factory, still partly used to process fish, with dockside seating. One of the best places on the island to watch the sunset.

Bustling waterfront spot for seafood & Southern classics, with a sprawling, tree-shaded outdoor bar with great lawn games. Also a great place to watch the sunset.

Shelter Cove Towne Centre

Walk about at Shelter Cove Towne Centre after a great dinner at one of our favorite places in the market, Giuseppi's Pizza & Pasta! Or rent some bikes and ride them over to the market for a delicious ice cream cone at Kilwin's ice cream shoppe!

Coligny Plaza

Coligny Plaza has tons of little trinket shops like speciality hot sauce as well as a few ice creameries to visit! This is a fun place to walk around with family! Moo ice cream is here with over 80 flavors along with Rita's ice.

The Salty Dog Marina

The Salty Dog is a well-known restaurant and bar scene on the marina area of Sea Pines plantation! Their famous t-shirts are well-known among the younger crowd and they now offer all sorts of merchandise like sweatshirts, hats, towels, dog toys and bandanas! Sea Pines does request a fee of about $6 to enter the plantation in which Harbour Town is located.

Harbour Town

Hilton Head Island's iconic lighthouse is located in the Harbour Town area with beautiful views of Dafuskie Island and dolphins jumping out of the water in the view of the dock! There are also a handful of shops here, ice cream options, and live music and family entertainment under the oak tree at the boat dock. The Crazy Crab restaurant is also located here! Sea Pines does request a fee of about $6 to enter the plantation in which Harbour Town is located.

Shop around at Tanger if you are an outlet lover. Right off the island, the outlets offer a huge variety of shops on the way to Savannah, GA.
